2 nights & 3 days on March 12 and 13, 2010 Cost: starts at $385 per person double occupancy

Forever Friends Quilt
Have cabin fever after a long winter? Then gather some friends for a unique quilters’ retreat, where you will stay overnight at the FITCH HOUSE B&B and quilt during the day at the WINDHAM TEXTILE MUSEUM, an historic textile mill nearby. Larisa Key is the designer and will be the teacher of the class project quilt pictured on the left: "Forever Friends".

  • The 2-day class taught by pattern designer, Larisa Key of QUILTERS DREAM Willimantic, CT and JWD Publishing.

  • Do the “Project quilt” or bring your own. Skill level: experienced beginner/intermediate.

  • Stay 2 nights at the FITCH HOUSE, an elegant & charming B&B in Connecticut’s Quiet Corner and enjoy a complimentary gourmet breakfast each morning. It can be arranged if you want to stay an extra night or two for extra sewing.

  • Spare time? Visit the Quilters Dream shop nearby for fabulous fabrics & supplies. The schedule from noon Friday March 12 to 6 PM Sunday March 14 is:

  • Friday, set up anytime after 12 noon in the Dunham Library Room at the Windham Textile Museum, Willimantic, CT, and work there undisturbed for 3 days. (Sewing area is not handicap accessible.) Friday afternoon is free sewing time.

  • Friday night, Welcome Buffet at Fitch House B&B, starting at 6:30 PM.

  • Two all-day (Sat & Sun) sewing sessions with Larissa at Windham Textile Museum.

  • Each day, lunch and afternoon snacks will be brought to you at the Museum.

  • Saturday night, you get a $35 coupon towards a Special Quilters’ Dinner in a private dining room at the award-winning Altnaveigh Inn, with a complimentary glass of wine. .

  • Sunday afternoon break (tea party) at Windham Textile Museum, with a specially guided tour of the Museum which will include viewing part of their quilt collection.

  • Want to stay Sunday night or longer? It can be arranged.

  • Total cost for the 3-day retreat is $385 per person double occupancy

(Minimum class size: 4 people; maximum size: 10 – 12 people)

BRING: YOUR ENTHUSIASM, YOUR SEWING MACHINE AND SUPPLIES (AND YOUR OWN QUILTING PROJECT IF YOU PREFER), and we will supply the historic setting, charming accommodations, well-lit work-tables, irons & ironing boards, good food & drink, and directions to your B&B and to the “attractions”: Windham Textile Museum for sewing venue, Fitch House for Welcome Reception, Altnaveigh Inn for Saturday night dinner, and Quilters Dream for supplies.

PARTICIPATING B&BS: All reservations are to be made through Fitch House (860-456-0922), where we will place you in the B&B of your choice:


COSTS; (not counting quilt materials): $395 per person double occupancy, for 2 nights & 3 days, with all meals included (from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch plus snack-breaks).
*Stay 2 nights at Fitch House (B&B): total cost is $385 per person double occ. (p.p.d.o.) for the Adams and Golding Rooms. (Add $100 onto $385 for a single room).

*Stay 2 nights at Daniel Rust House (B&B): total cost starts at $385 p.p.d.o. for the Mercy Rust Room, & goes up for the other rooms. (Ask at time of reservation for single room rate).

*Stay at Tolland Inn (B&B): total cost starts at $385 p.p.d.o. for Rooms 1, 2 & 6, and goes up for the other rooms. (Ask at time of reservation for single room rate)
Payment and Cancellation Policy: February 25, 2010 is the deadline for signing up or canceling, which is 2 weeks prior to opening date of March 12, 2010. Payment in full (($385) is required to secure your reservation. There will be a $40 processing fee if you cancel outside the 2-week deadline, but no other charges will be made and the remainder ($345) of your payment will be returned to you. However, if you cancel less than 2 weeks before the first date of the retreat, or fail to show up, or leave a day early, or arrive a day late, you will be charged for the full amount ($385) for the retreat. Payment will be by either Master Card or Visa. Fitch House reserves the right to cancel the retreat if fewer than 4 people register. If retreat is cancelled, your payment will be returned in full.

Are you a local quilter, and just want to sew and eat, but sleep in your own bed at home? Please contact Fitch House (860-456-0922) or the Windham Textile Museum (860-456-2178) to make arrangements. Cost: $235 per person for classes and food, but not lodging.

INTERESTED IN YOUR OWN PRIVATE RETREAT? Call Fitch House! There is also another option: “Quilting in the Quiet Corner” on your own. Would you like to create a mini-retreat for yourself and 3 friends, but can’t make the March retreat? Contact Fitch House. We have a sun-filled solarium to use as a work-room, and we’ll work out special dates and rates for you and your friends.

NOTE TO QUILTERS: Would you like to “Quilt in the Quiet Corner” on your own project? Would you like to set up a mini-retreat for yourself and a friend to tackle some UFOs? If you would like a special place to work on your quilt undisturbed for 1 or more days, please contact one of the participating B&Bs. Each has a room, big enough for at least 1 quilt and work-table, which can be closed off for quilting. If you are interested, you can make your own arrangements with a participating B&B for room rates and dates, or call Fitch House (860-456-0922) for referrals and reservation information.
